WOMEN’S MARCH TO THE WHITE HOUSE

NOV 2, 2024 — WASHINGTON DC AND NATIONWIDE

** We will update this page often check back for new details. **

WHY NOVEMBER 2ND?

On November 2nd, thousands of feminists will converge in Washington, D.C., and across the nation, to show the strength of our feminist movement. In D.C, our march will pass by the White House, a powerful reminder to those in power that we are watching and demanding accountability – and that this November, women will win the White House. The day will culminate in a vibrant rally and community festival, where activists can listen to inspiring speakers, enjoy live music, and connect with partner organizations committed to this fight.

The event is strategically timed to cap off a day of Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts across the nation. Our canvassers and marchers will join forces to celebrate our collective power and send a strong message to Americans everywhere: We Won’t Go Back! RSVP FOR DC MARCH.

Accessibility

Women’s March is committed to making this march accessible. We are also dedicated to our goal of making all participants feel welcome, safe, heard, thought of, and cared for.

To make this possible, we have arranged an array of features we hope will satisfy the needs of many:

  • All volunteers, marshalls, and members of the de-escalation team will be trained to provide general support for folks with disabilities.

  • American Sign Language interpretation will be provided on the stage.

  • An ADA section will be located directly in front of the stage at the rally site. This area will have chairs, a direct line of sight to our ASL interpreters on stage, and space for wheelchairs.

  • The ADA/Volunteer tent will be located at the rally site, and will have masks, water, snacks, sunscreen, earplugs, and other support items available.

  • ADA-compatible porta-potties will be available at the rally site.

FAQs

  • We encourage everyone to use the metro if possible. The nearest metro stations to Freedom Plaza are Federal Triangle (Blue, Orange, Silver lines)and Metro Center (Red, Blue, Orange, Silver lines).

  • The Metro system in D.C. is relatively easy to use and connects to various regional transit systems. We recommend buying a D.C. Metro card in advance. Many people purchasing cards at once at the Metro machines can lead to long lines and delays. You can buy cards in advance here. The DC Metro now also allows you to use mobile payment options such as Apple Pay; you must download the app and load the fare beforehand.

Pro Tip: Bring good walking shoes and lots of patience. You can find more information about the DC area bus and metro options here.

  • Public Transit: The nearest metro stations to Freedom Plaza are Federal Triangle (Blue, Orange, Silver lines)and Metro Center (Red, Blue, Orange, Silver lines). Plan your route using WMATA’s Trip Planner.

Road Closures: Due to the march, expect road closures around Freedom Plaza and the White House. Keep an eye on DC Department of Transportation’s Traffic Alerts for up-to-date information.

  • Parking Lots: There are several paid parking lots near Freedom Plaza, but expect higher demand and road closures around the event area. Popular options include:

    • Colonial Parking Lot 671 (1325 G Street NW)

    • One Freedom Plaza Garage (1301 Pennsylvania Ave NW)

    • 1350 New York Ave Garage (1350 New York Ave NW)

    • Note: Street parking may be limited due to event-related road closures. Please review DC Parking Regulations before heading out. For a smoother experience, we strongly recommend parking and taking public transit or walking to Freedom Plaza.

  • We’ve secured a discounted hotel block at Hotel Zena for our attendees. Hotel Zena is a unique, feminist art-filled hotel located in downtown DC and features a beautiful Women’s March-themed art gallery, perfect for getting inspired before the rally. There will also be a Women’s March pop-up shop in the hotel, where you can grab exclusive merch and show your support in style!

Rooms are limited, so be sure to book early! If the block sells out, we recommend checking FairHotels.org for union-approved alternatives nearby.

    • Small backpacks and bags are allowed. We recommend you fill them with water and snacks for the day.

    • Comfortable shoes

    • Mask & Hand sanitizer (we will have hand sanitizing stations)

    • Portable phone Charger

    • Your feminist spirit, your defiance to injustice, and your demands to protect our freedoms

    • Any weapons, or anything that can be construed as a weapon, including pocket knives, multi-tools, mace, scissors, etc.

    • Any illegal drugs (while marijuana is legal in D.C., the march will be on federal property and national park land, where marijuana is still illegal)

    • Coat-hanger imagery: We do not want to accidentally reinforce the right-wing talking points that self-managed abortions are dangerous, scary and harmful.

    • Handmaid’s Tale themed: The use of Handmaid's Tale imagery to characterize the controlling of women’s reproduction has proliferated, primarily by white women across the country, since the show has gained popularity. This message continues to create more fragmentation, often around race and class, because it erases the fact that Black women, undocumented women, incarcerated women, poor women and disabled women have always had their reproduction freedom controlled in this country. This is not a dystopian past or future.Description text goes here
